Stephan’s story started very tragically, but fortunately ended very well. We first came across Steffi’s brother – a cute little puppy, no more than three or four months old, with nice decorations and long ears. Unfortunately, the dog was lying helpless by the side of the road, apparently the result of being hit by a car. We immediately loaded Django on the car and headed to the nearest veterinary clinic in Sofia. After heavy surgery, Django died the next day. Shortly after, we learned that there was a second young dog dumped in the same spot, next to the road, and we vowed to pick him up. It was Steffi. It took us several months to gain the trust of the frightened pal so that he would start to approach us, and over a year until we were able to catch him and get him safely back from the road. It turned out that we got past the hard part, as Steffi turned out to be very sweet natured and very quickly became a well-behaved house dog. Shortly after that he also found a nice and safe home in Austria.
